Sleep Tight

I know I just made a post but I peeked in the girls' room before getting into bed myself and this is the sight I saw....how precious...at least for now!

A Haircut and Big Girl Beds

Well, it officially happened.  Ava and Reese realized that they could physically climb in and out of their cribs.  You know what that means, right?  Compromised sleep time, extra mischief, and climbing into bed with sissy.  For a while longer mommy and daddy can enjoy the fact that the girls can't turn the door knob enough to open the door but we know that soon enough life will get even more interesting.  Don't worry...baby gates and turning the door handle with lock around haven't slipped our minds.  We have plenty of mommy and daddy friends who have already gone through this!

And if you see Ava anytime soon you may notice her little haircut that mommy gave her.  Yep, her hair was just too stringy at the ends.  It makes it look a little fuller and I'm hopefully it will grow in longer and more even.  Next time she'll probably get the opportunity to get a real haircut from a real stylist.  Until then, this will do!

Kansas City Zoo

Since the fall semester officially starts for mommy and daddy on Monday, we took advantage of one last weekday and made a trip to the KC Zoo with Ava and Reese.  We had a great time seeing all the animals.  The family's favorite was Nikita the polar bear.  If you live in the KC area and haven't been, we highly encourage you to go!

Back to work tomorrow!

Simply Cute

Since it's been a while since I've had pictures on the blog I thought I'd add a few of my recent favorites.  By the way, I've added pictures to the last two posts so check them out.  My solution to the problem was just to open up the blog using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer.  Go figure!

Going to our first movie...dollar movies at the Great Mall of the Great Plains.  "Follow That Bird" (Sesame Street Movie).

Outside of Target after buying our new pretty panties...Minnie Mouse!  Yes, after 8 days of potty training the girls finally turned the corner and "got it".  Our diaper bill is going to be cut drastically!!!!!!

Hanging out with our buddies Sam and Nolan...a classic!

Johnson County Fair Parade with our friends the Southards!!!

Golf for Babies 2013

Another post without pictures...I'm still working on that issue.

Our non-profit organization FORE! Preemies Foundation held its 2nd annual Golf for Babies event on Monday and it was a huge success.  Zack has worked hours upon hours on this.  I help in every way I can but Zack is truly the muscle behind this awesome event to support a cause we feel so passionate about.  We have so many thank-yous...from our families and friends, to cooperate sponsors, to our NICU and Overland Park Regional Medical Center friends, to March of Dimes, to strangers, and on and on.  We know there will be family in the Kansas City area and beyond that will benefit from the money that was raised on Monday.  We totaled about $41,000 as of Monday evening but there are some contributions still coming in so our total will likely be a little more than that.  Completely awesome!

We know the outcome of our ups and downs with Ava and Reese's premature birth can't be as happy as ours for everyone but it is our prayer that with more funds raised for March of Dimes, more and more families can have those happy endings.

The next morning we went to breakfast with family before some of them had to leave.  Talking on her phone during mealtime is something we need to work on!!
Eating toast with "Auntie D"...mommy's college roommate who was awesome help with the golf event!

Breckenridge

These next two blogs have taken so long because I have been working for over a week to upload to pictures to this blog and am having the same issue with the Golf for Babies post.  For some reason, BlogSpot is not allowing my pictures/videos to upload and it is so frustrating.  Pictures and videos are the best part of blogs in my opinion!  Anyway, here is a written update and I will keep working on the problem....

The week of July 21st we headed to Breckenridge for a family vacation.  Our extended family coordinated the trip in celebration of my grandparents' 70th wedding anniversary that was in May.  Yes, 70 years...amazing, huh?  My grandparents are truly a wonderful example of what marriage is supposed to be.  The way they treat each other, talk to each other, support each other, and love each other is such an inspiration.  I know this post is somewhat delayed but I wanted to highlight our trip and the fabulous trip we had.  One small milestone for us is that Ava didn't need oxygen this time like she did just being in Aurora, CO (where my grandparents live) less than a year ago!!!

Fun new toys for the car ride to Colorado!!!

 Stickers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Throwing rocks in the mountain stream was the best!!!

In the helicopter at the Breckenridge children's museum!
