6 Years Old...Yes, Seriously...6 Years Old

Well, a lot has happened since November including Ava and Reese turning 6 years old yesterday.  It was a pretty crazy day with it also being the last day of school before break, meaning classroom parties.  The day started off with the girls getting their 4-foot dollhouse and then sprinkle birthday pancakes.  Then off to school only to have mommy and daddy visit 3 times.  Since the classroom parties were in the afternoon, their teachers had them celebrate their birthdays in the morning so we took in hot chocolate and marshmallows at 9:45.  Then we brought lunch to the girls and ate with them at 11:45, and finally we helped out during the classroom parties at 2:15.  It was a good thing we were able to get our grades in for the semester for our own teaching yesterday as well.  It's also good we live so close to the school!  After school we went to pick up pizzas and cakes before taking them to the Overland Park Regional Medical Center NICU.  It's a tradition for us to take pizzas to the families in the NICU and cakes to the medical staff every year on Ava and Reese's birthday.  We visited with a few doctors and nurses before heading to meet some friends at Chuck-e-Cheese.  Of course after playing games, eating pizza and cookie cake, and cashing in the won tickets for some fabulous prizes, we were all exhausted.  Starting today we are all on winter break and will enjoy the next few relatively quiet days to focus on Christmas and Jesus' birthday.

In kindergarten, you get to stand on the table on your birthday.  It's a big deal!

Other happenings since the last post include a school fieldtrip to Paradise Park, Grandparent's Day at Sunnyside Elementary School, the Holiday Lunch at school, decorating for Christmas, visiting Santa, the annual McNeil Christmas Party, decorating a gingerbread house, and playing in the snow!
